SCRIPT

The process of writing a script for a documentary or docudrama has been extremely difficult as you are unaware of how it will unfold until you begin the journey. A famous theorist and documentary filmmaker called Faith Fuller has quoted : "The Documentary is the process of discovery". Effectively, this translates into the script of a documentary unraveling through its own journey, and instead cannot be written at the beginning of the production process.

Nevertheless, I have created a script that includes all the aspects and clients that I will include within the short film, however, I have left their dialogue blank because the journey of making the film has not started yet.

Development

It was important to conduct peer review whilst developing the script in order to improve the narrative structure. Firstly I began by creating a script for the fictional drama. I began by creating a list of characters and formulating a scriptwriting schedule in order to produce a script. Look at the initial stages document to view how the final major project was developed at the beginning. I have also included a presentation and initial scriptwriting schedule within this document which explains the idea further. The script below is a first draft of the script.

Peer review enabled me to change the format of the short film from a fictional drama into a documentary. Many peers believed that the short film will create more awareness. With this advice, I altered the format of the film and decided to create a docudrama/ docufiction. In order to create this, I conducted research on other documentaries within the industry to gain a sense of inspiration. I then started to plan and prepare by creating a revised scriptwriting schedule, as well as a revised script that can be seen at the top of this document.
